A Week That Reminded Us Who We Are
Last week marked an important milestone for EAIS as the school welcomed the COGNIA accreditation team across its three campuses. The visit reflected the core values that define our community: Home, Safety, Inspiration, Growth, and Learning—and a shared belief that we belong here.
Over the years, EAIS has experienced significant growth in scale, capacity, and impact, expanding from a single space to three campuses across three branches. This progress reflects a sustained commitment to quality, care, and continuous improvement.
The accreditation team consisted of five highly experienced international educators who visit schools worldwide to identify effective practices and support ongoing development. EAIS was proud to share its work and learning culture with them.
During the visit, the team:
- Engaged with 281 stakeholders, the majority of whom were students
- Conducted 48 classroom observations, with results exceeding network averages in nearly all areas
- Commended the school’s documentation, transparency, and the positive, proud voice of the EAIS community
- Described EAIS as a strong example of accreditation as a process focused on continuous improvement
A special highlight of the visit was the formal recognition of Mrs. Mervat Bassiouni, who was pinned by Cognia as an Inspirational Leader and Difference Maker. This recognition honors her long-standing contribution to education and her positive impact on students, educators, leaders, and families.
Noteworthy strengths highlighted included a deeply embedded culture of intercultural understanding and leadership practices that foster strong relationships, support, and a sense of belonging across the school community.
Areas identified for further development—Digital Learning and Action Research—are fully aligned with EAIS strategic priorities and are already embedded within ongoing action plans.
As stated by Dr. Andre Harrison, Senior Vice President of Accreditation,
“Continuous improvement is an embedded culture—and this is clearly evident at EAIS.”
EAIS extends its appreciation to its leadership teams, teachers, parents, and students for their collective role in this achievement. The school remains committed to building on these strengths and continuing to enhance learning experiences for all students.
Wishing you and your families a blessed and peaceful Ramadan.
Warm regards,
Dr.Amal Sobhi, Director EAIS October

Reading Week G1-5
Dear Parents and students grade 1-5
We are so excited to announce that we will be focused on all the joys of reading during EAIS Reading Week from February 8th to February 12th!
We have many activities planned throughout the week to nurture the love for books and reading!! Our program includes the following:

- Book Swap: We would like children to have a look at home to see if they have a book they no longer read. If they find one, they can bring this book into school and give it to their English or character building teacher. The teacher will display these books in class and any child who has brought a book will then be able to choose a new book to take home. Books should be in a good condition and appropriate for your child’s year group.
- Reading Show & Tell – students will show and tell their favorite book, author, poem, or character throughout their schedule.
- Peer & Group Reading – students from middle and high school will be reading in elementary classes with the younger students.
- Making Bookmarks – in art classes students will create bookmarks they can use.
- Reading Bingo Competition – students will compete to finish this reading bingo sheet first.
- Story creation—Students will work in groups to create their own story.
We are so looking forward to this fun week of reading!!!

Raz Benchmark Assessment
Dear Parents 🌼
As our exciting reading journey continues, it is very important for us to make sure we always keep track of your child's reading progress throughout the academic year. In order to document this wonderful journey for your child, he/she will be assigned a benchmark assessment to be completed on Raz Kids.
Please note that the benchmark assessment is to be completed by your child starting from today and the due date is Monday 6th.
The benchmark assessment is a standardized reading assessment that includes:
-Reading (audio recording)
-Retelling (audio recording)
-Short quiz on the text
Upon completion of the assessment, we will be able to determine an accurate reading level of your child, and this will help us track his/her growth throughout the year.
Please note that it is extremely important for your child to complete the benchmark assessment without any help, because it is a tool that helps us understand how to better support your child and ensure consistent growth and learning.
Make sure that the microphone is working properly and that the internet connection is good.
If under any circumstances the assessment window closes, contact us as soon as possible so we could re-assign the benchmark assessment to be done again.
Happy reading 📖 📚

IXL−Grade1−7
Dear Parents,
IXL is an online program where students can gain fluency and confidence with essential skills through fun and interactive questions and built-in support. The program offers personalized skills recommendations based on what each student has been practicing and what they are ready to learn next. Students in grades 1-4 will use IXL for personalized support in math. While students in grade 5-6 will use it for English ,Math and science .

After your child completes the Diagnostic, the program will recommend skills for your child to practice based on what they are ready to learn. Teachers will assign skill recommendations weekly to increase proficiency and monitor their progress. Students may go into IXL at any time to practice on their own as well.

MAP−Fall Testing Sessions−Grade 3 till Grade9
Dear parents and students Grade 3 till 9,
Beginning September 28th , students will participate in Measure of Academic Progress (MAP) Fall testing sessions in Grades 3 till 9.
The MAP Test is a computerized adaptive test which helps teachers, parents, and administrators improve learning for all students and make informed decisions to promote a child's academic growth. The students will be tested in Reading, Language Usage, Math and Science.
This test will be used to assess student progress and adapt learning as needed.
Students will be tested during ICT sessions, so please avoid absence in the coming weeks. We will be orienting our students and taking them through the instructions carefully, and a PowerPoint presentation with details will be posted on google classroom under “ICT topic”.
In case of absences during testing, a make-up will be re-scheduled with valid excuses. However, the testing windows will close after the make-up and students who are absent will have a score of invalid on the MAP report.
For more information about MAP testing go to the NWEA website at http://www.nwea.org.
